PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT

•  Authors are requested to write the category of an article (Research Article, Short Communication, Review Article, Case Report) under which they want to publish it.
•  Author’s/Co-author should write their email ID on the title page with full affiliation details (present working address with designation).
•  Authors should keep their manuscripts as short as they reasonably can (the total number of words should not exceed 6000).
•  The page number should appear in the lower right-hand corner of each page, beginning with the title page.
•  The language of the manuscript must be simple and explicit.
•  Author’s / Co-author’s name or any other identification should not appear anywhere in the body of the manuscript to facilitate blind review.

RESEARCH AREAS

Research Papers and Articles may be from one of the following broad areas covered by this journal include ( but not limited to ) natural product research, which in turn includes the following branches involved with it - ethnomedicine, ethnobotany, ethnopharmacology, agriculture and forestry, food science and nutrition, life sciences, biochemistry, pharmacy, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, herbal formulations, toxicology, conservation, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, industrial chemistry, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, medicinal chemistry, veterinary science, aromatherapy, cosmetology, novel drug delivery, quality control, etc. Indigenous herbs and drugs refer to all kinds of research performed on plants that are specific to a particular geographic location or locality. Indigenous medicine refers to all the traditional systems of medicine like (any branches of) Ayurveda, Siddha, Homeopathy, Unani, Tibbi, Chinese, Folk medicine, Ethno-medicine, and all other existing classical systems worldwide.

ORIGINALITY

All articles submitted for publication in IJIHD should be original material. The submission should have been made exclusively to IJIHD and must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The first author should certify to this effect. Any author/s found to falsify or mislead the editors will be disqualified from future submissions to IJIHD.

RESEARCH ARTICLE

Research Article should be submitted under the following headings in one file.

TITLE PAGE

The title page should contain the title of the paper in boldface, title case (font size 14), names of the authors in normal face, upper case (font size 12) followed by the address(es) in normal face lower case. The author to whom all correspondence be addressed should be denoted by an asterisk mark. The title should be as short as possible and precisely indicate the nature of the work in the communication. Names of the authors should appear as initials followed by surnames for men and one given-name followed by surname for women. Full names may be given in some instances to avoid confusion. Names should not be prefixed or suffixed by titles or degrees. Names should be followed by the complete postal address or addresses with pin code numbers of the place(s), where the research work has been carried out. At the bottom left corner of the title page, please mention “*Address For correspondence” and provide a functional e-mail address. The address of the corresponding author to whom all correspondence may be sent should be given only if it is different from the address already given under the authors’ names. Trivial sub-titles such as ‘Title’, ‘Author’, ‘Address’, or ‘Place of Investigation’ shall not be included on the title page. The title page should be aligned center except for “*Address For correspondence”.

Provide a running title or short title of not more than 50 characters.

ABSTRACT
The Abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory, briefly present the topic, state the scope of the experiments, indicate significant data, and point out major findings and conclusions. The abstract should be up to 250 words in length. Complete sentences, active verbs, and the third person should be used, and the abstract should be written in the past tense. Standard nomenclature should be used and abbreviations should be avoided. No literature should be cited.

KEYWORDS

Write relevant keywords up to six.

INTRODUCTION
The Introduction should be concise and define the scope of the work in relation to other work done in the same field. The purpose of the study, aims & objectives, and significance of the study should be mentioned in the Introduction section.

EXPERIMENTAL SECTION/MATERIALS AND METHODS
Materials and Methods should be complete enough and clearly describe the experiments and techniques used in the study. However, only truly new procedures should be described in detail; previously published procedures should be cited, and important modifications of published procedures should be mentioned briefly. Write this section in the past tense.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

The details of the statistical tests used and the level of significance should be stated. If more than one test is used it is important to indicate which groups and parameters have been subjected to which test. Write the name of the software and version used for data analysis.

RESULTS
Results should be combined and presented with clarity and precision. The results should be written in the past tense when describing findings in the author's (s)’s experiments. Previously published findings should be written in the present tense. Results should be expressed preferably in the form of a table. Don’t repeat the same findings in a table as well as in graphs/figures.

DISCUSSION
The Discussion should interpret the findings in view of the results obtained in this and in past studies, on, this, topic. This section should deal with the interpretation, rather than the recapitulation of results. It is important to discuss the new and significant observations in light of previous work. Discuss also the weaknesses or pitfalls in the study. New hypotheses or recommendations can be put forth. Avoid unqualified statements and conclusions not completely supported by the data. Repetition of information given under Introduction and Results should be avoided.

CONCLUSION
State the conclusions in a few sentences in a lucid manner at the end of the paper. Conclusions must be drawn considering the strengths and weaknesses of the study. Emphasize the clinical significance of the study.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT (S)
Author(s) may acknowledge the support obtained in the study. It should be typed in a new page. Acknowledge only persons who have contributed to the scientific content or provided technical support. Sources of financial support should be mentioned.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

A conflict of interest arises when the author, reviewer, or editor has any financial or personal interests that may influence the final decision-making process. The journal insists on submission to declare about the conflict of interest if any by authors. The author is expected to disclose this before publishing any article. The author should declare that the content submitted to the journal or the similar content under his/her authorship is not submitted for consideration or published elsewhere.

Tables

These should be numbered with Arabic numerals. Each table should be typed using a table format (i.e., each variable must be typed into a separate cell in the table). The title should be typed at the table in the sentence case format i.e., only the first name should be in capital letters; as appropriate (font size 10, Times New Roman). Any front note should be typed at the bottom of the table in italic. Tables should be prepared in Microsoft Word. Don’t keep tables/figures at the end of the article. All the tables/figures should be kept at an appropriate place in the text of an article where you have mentioned these tables/figures. All the tables/figures should be mentioned in the text of the article.

Figure legends

Graphics should be prepared using applications capable of generating high-resolution JPEG for pasting in the Microsoft Word manuscript file. Use Arabic numerals in the order of their appearance in the text and bear a brief title in lower case boldface letters below the figure(font size 10, Times New Roman). For any figure directly extracted from previously published materials, you must have written permission from the publisher of that figure for reprint use. A copy of that permission release must be submitted with your article. To designate figures and upper case letters for their parts (Figure 1). Figures can be attached as a JPEG file.

REFERENCES

References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text (not in alphabetic order). Identify references in text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in parenthesis/bracket like- [1]. References cited only in tables or figure legends should be numbered in accordance with the sequence established by the first identification in the text of the particular table or figure. Use the style of the examples below. Use the complete name of the journal for non-indexed journals. Avoid using abstracts as references. Information from manuscripts submitted but not accepted should be cited in the text as “unpublished observations” with written permission from the source. Avoid citing a “personal communication” unless it provides essential information not available from a public source, in which case the name of the person and date of communication should be cited in parentheses in the text. For scientific articles, contributors should obtain written permission and confirmation of accuracy from the source of personal communication.

Short Communication

The journal publishes exciting findings, preliminary data, or studies that did not yield enough information to make a full paper as a short communication. These have the same format requirements as full papers but are only up to 5 pages in length. Short Communications should not have subtitles such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion - all these have to be merged into the running text. Short Communications preferably should have only 3-4 illustrations.

Case Study

It should be divided into the Title page, Abstract (non-structured), Keywords, Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement, References.

Review Articles

Should be about 18 pages long, contain up-to-date information, comprehensively cover relevant literature, and preferably be written by scientists who have in-depth knowledge on the topic. All format requirements are the same as those applicable to full papers. Review articles need not be divided into sections such as Materials and Methods and Results and Discussion, but should definitely have an Abstract and Introduction, if necessary.

Conflict of Interest statement

It must be declared by the authors.

Author contributions

The contribution of each author should be given in the manuscript immediately after acknowledgment/conclusion.

Language

All the manuscripts should be submitted in clear and concise English. As a reference for spelling and hyphenation, the Oxford English dictionary should be used. The authors are advised to check all the grammatical mistakes before submission.

General Guidelines

1. Please use Calibri font size 12 for the content of the manuscript and Constantia font size 14 for the title of the manuscript.
2. Do not break words at the ends of the lines.
3. Do not use underlining.
4. Use the TAB key, not the spacebar when indenting paragraphs or separating columns in tables.
5. Leave the right-hand margin unjustified.

Please supply manuscripts as editable text files (Preferably Microsoft Word documents), and make sure that the manuscript file is anonymized as the journal applies a double-blind peer-review process.

Rejection Appeals

Authors have the right to appeal to editorial decisions. Appeals should be sent via e-mail to the Editor at editor.ijihd@saap.org.in with a letter of appeal giving detailed explanations along with concise supporting arguments to substantiate the request. Appeals are then sent to a member of the Editorial Board for consideration. If successful, an appeal can lead to the article’s review being resumed, and the article may ultimately be published following any revisions the Board feels are necessary. However, if the appeal is rejected, then the original rejection decision is to consider. Please note, we must receive your appeal within 14 calendar days.
